The Art of Minimalism

We all love a stack, but when it comes to low-key luxe with polish, minimalist jewelry will never go out of style.

More is often more when it comes to jewelry, but sometimes, we need to cut through the layers with a straightforward, beautifully designed jewel. As our founder, Duha Al-Ramadhan says:

Minimalist jewelry speaks volumes through simplicity. I love pieces with clean lines, understated designs, and a focus on quality materials. They give a timeless aesthetic that compliments any style.
Duha Al-Ramadhan

Minimalist jewelry is typically either bold and form-focused, or delicate and pared-back. Often, there are no stones, or a stone will be mounted in a minimal or invisible setting, to keep the materials themselves center-stage. “Minimalism to me, is about honing in on the essence of design—letting form, texture, and proportion speak for themselves without excess,” says Sophie Howard of By Pariah, a young London-based brand with a focus on the natural beauty of gemstones.

It’s a philosophy of quiet luxury, where each element has purpose and presence, allowing the materials and craftsmanship to truly shine.
Sophie Howard, By Pariah founder

According to Sophie, minimalist jewelry is a celebration of subtlety and individuality, and an invitation to create a unique look. Nothing beats the power of a single, voluminous ring; while a dainty string of diamonds can lift an otherwise austere outfit. We’ve edited some of our favorite, new-season minimalist jewels for those days when you want perfect proportions, no fuss, and maximum impact.

Earrings with a focus on form

Shape is important for earrings, which often have to compete with hair. If you’re keeping the rest of your ear stack low-key — or have a single lobe piercing — striking shapes like Anita Ko’s Claw earrings are ideal, in polished white gold that catches the eye without the need for stones. Small on size but big on detail, are Lizzie Mandler’s Fluted Huggies which clasp the lobe just-so, while the Baby Deco Link Huggies by the mother-daughter design team behind Shay, bring look-sharpening geometry into play.

Styling statement rings

Back at By Pariah, Sophie says she introduced ready-made stacks when she realized customers were buying several rings and creating their own combinations. Curated in-house, each one includes a solid gold band, a hand-carved gemstone ring, and a diamond band, in a thoughtful curation of colors and textures. “These elements create a refined and versatile look,” she says. “It’s minimalism with depth, a beautifully understated statement.” Elsewhere, Ascher’s diamond pavé Petite Hypnosis ring winds around the finger with no need for anything more, while the ultimate minimalist ring has to be Eva Fehren’s gold Kissing Claw ring.

Necklaces for quiet luxe

If you’re keeping clothing low-key, a delicate necklace can draw the eye in the subtlest of ways, adding the almost imperceptible finish that can pull a look together. Accent luxe textures with a little diamond polish in the form of Azlee’s Lozenge Diamond necklace, or put the focus on polished metals and geometric angles, with the Cross Bar necklace by Jennifer Meyer. If bold and beautiful is more your style, you’ll love the Lebanese designer Joelle Kharrat’s line of talisman necklaces. Each one is created using different materials representing the four elements; precious ebony and gold is not only a classic combination, but the eye-catching form makes for an easy focal point to an outfit, without overstatement.
